Modula-2 news

• 2001 SC22 Plenary: Because it has finished all its plans, WG13 has been disbanded bij SC22. The WG will from now on only do 'maintenance' on the standards.
• 2001 SC22 Plenary: The `Interfacing Modula-2 to C' project has been cancelled.
• 2000-11-?? A publication on the Extensions to Modula-2 has appeared in the November 2000 number of JOOP (Journal of Object Oriented Programming)
• 1998-12-19 The OO and generics IS have been approved!
• 1998-06-21 An article by Martin Schönhacker and Kees Pronk has appeared in Computer Standards and Interfaces, Vol 19 pp 143 .. 154.
• 1997-12-09 The OO and generics DIS have been approved. They will become IS after some editing has taken place and after a disposition of comments has been written.
• 1997-03-18 WG13 had a succesful meeting in Linz (Austria).
• 1997-02-25 The NWI proposal for `Interfacing Modula-2 to C' has been approved.
• 1996-12-06 D238 NWI-proposal for `Interfacing Modula-2 to C' has appeared.
• 1996-11-12 Two articles on Modula-2 standardization have appeared in the August number of SigPlan Notices.
  The first article discusses the Process Aspects of the standard; the second article discusses Changes, Clarifications and Additions. Both articles were written by Martin Schönhacker and Kees Pronk.
• 1996-11-01 A WG13 meeting has been scheduled in Linz (Austria) in conjunction with JMLC'97. A previously announced meeting in Nov'96 has been cancelled.
• 1996-09-28: Martin Schönhacker (Austria) has been appointed by SC22 as the new WG13 convener.
• 1996-09-28: Kees Pronk has been appointed as the new Project Editor for the Base language.
• 1996-09-28: The project for Modula-2 binding to POSIX, Commercial Programming and Further Concurrent Programming have been withdrawn.
• 1996-09-28: A New Work Item Proposal for a project leading to a Type 3 Technical Report titled Interfacing Modula-2 to C has been endorsed by the SC22 Plenary for balloting in JTC1.
• CDs have been issued for Generics in Modula-2 and OO extensions for Modula-2. Balloting closes in Nov. 1996.
• 1996-06-01: ISO/IEC 10514-1, the Modula-2 Standard has been published by ISO!!!!!!
• 1996-05-30: The ballot results have come in:
  Both project editors were voted for by all voters.
  The OO-proposal got negatives votes form the UK and Germany and some yes-votes with comments from Austria and the Netherlands. The rest of the world voted positively or not.
  The Generics proposal got no-votes the UK and yes-votes with comments from Germany and Austria. The rest of the world voted positively or not.
  In spite of these no-votes both proposals have been accepted.
• 1996-05-06: A working paper on Renaming and Generics by Rick Sutcliffe has been added to the documents section.
• 1996-03-08: Notice has been received that Mark Woodman has resigned as the convener of WG13. Subsequently, BSI has resigned.
  A new convener is needed.
• 1996-02-18: The following documents have been received from the SC22 secretariat.
  • N 2064, Disposition of Comments on DIS 10514-1
  • N 2065, Minutes and Resolutions of SC22/WG13 meeting in Vienna, Austria.
  • N2066, Nomination of Mr. A. Wiedemann to be project editor of project JTC 1.22.18.02 (Object oriented Extensions) and LETTER BALLOT.
  • N2067, Nomination of Mr. R. Sutcliffe (Canada) to be project editor of project JTC 1.22.18.04 (Modula-2 Extensions for Systems Programming) (* = Generics *) and LETTER BALLOT.
  • N2068, CD Registration Ballot for Object oriented extensions for Modula-2 (AND LETTER BALLOT).
  • N2069, CD Registration ballot for Modula-2 Extensions for Systems Programming (* = Generics *) (AND LETTER BALLOT).
  The closing date for all the ballots is 1996-05-31
• 1996-01-15: The following documents have been sent to the SC22 secretariat for distribution to SC22:
  • Request for CD registration of project 1.22.18.02 (Extensions for Object Oriented Programming D225).
  • Request for CD registration of project 1.22.18.04 (Extensions for Generic Programming D221).
  • Nomination of Mr. R. Sutcliffe as Project Editor for the project 1.22.18.04 (Extensions for Generic Programming).
  • Nomination of Mr. A. Wiedemann as Project Editor for the project 1.22.18.02 (Extensions for Object Oriented Programming).
  • Resolutions and minutes of the 10th meeting of WG13 (Vienna)
  • Disposition of comments on DIS 10514.
• 1996-01-14: The main standard (IS 10514-1) has been sent to ITTF for publication.
• 1995-09-23: C.Pronk was appointed interim convener during the the SC22 Plenary in Annapolis.
